Growth Stories: Riccardo’s Journey at Twipe

Ciao! My name is Riccardo, and I was born and raised in Italy. I moved to Belgium in 2019 to pursue my Master’s in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. In September of that same year, I joined Twipe. Since then, my journey has been nothing short of transformative. If you’re here to learn more about what makes Twipe such a unique place to work, I hope my story helps shed some light on the experience.

What was your first role at Twipe, and how has your career evolved?

I started at Twipe as part of the Young Graduate Program, jumping right into the deep end with the Business Development squad. From day one, I was trusted to manage key projects like optimizing our website and learning technical skills like HTML, CSS, and Photoshop. Soon enough, I was leading discussions with top executives across Europe, which felt both exhilarating and challenging.

Now, I am proud to lead the Sales & Incubation team, overseeing market expansion in our strategic markets. My focus has shifted to spearheading innovative value propositions, particularly in AI. Two exciting projects I’m working on include AI Audio Editions and AI News Quizzes. It’s been incredible to see how Twipe supports and nurtures new ideas, helping them turn into real solutions for the media industry.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned at Twipe?

The most valuable lesson I’ve learned is the importance of trust and ownership. Twipe has given me the flexibility and autonomy to kickstart projects, whether it’s launching AI initiatives or creating Sparkling Friday – an internal initiative I co-lead with my colleague Nathan, dedicated to learning and innovation. Having that trust has been crucial to my growth and has allowed me to push boundaries and explore new opportunities.

Can you share a memorable moment that marked a turning point in your career?

Rather than one single moment, my journey has been marked by continuous exposure to high-caliber C-level executives. That constant interaction has truly matured me as a professional. One standout experience was a month-long trip in the US to meet with prospective clients. I attended exclusive media conferences, was surrounded by seasoned professionals, and gained access to prestigious locations. It was a surreal experience, especially for someone who grew up in a small town in Italy. That trip made me feel like I had “made it,” knowing I was representing Twipe on such a global scale.

How has Twipe helped you grow professionally?

Twipe has been instrumental in my growth for many reasons. Beyond giving me the trust to lead projects, I’ve had the chance to rotate across multiple teams. My time with CXOps (Customer Operations), where I served as a project manager delivering challenging technical projects, and later with the Data & AI team, helped me discover a passion for deep technical understanding and problem-solving. It also made me appreciate the complexity of many things we often take for granted.

The feedback culture and support from colleagues have been equally important, always pushing me to improve. I’ve especially valued the mentorship and guidance I’ve received, which have been crucial in helping me develop into the professional I am today.

After all these years, what makes Twipe’s culture unique?

What sets Twipe apart is the constant focus on learning, innovation, and collaboration. We’re encouraged to share our ideas and get involved in shaping the company’s direction. Feedback is a daily part of life here – it pushes us to constantly improve and evolve. The team spirit is palpable, and everyone is motivated to challenge the status quo and bring new solutions to the table. It’s a dynamic and inspiring environment that continues to fuel my growth.

What’s next?

As someone passionate about entrepreneurship, there’s a saying I believe in: You have to be able to both sell and build. In the coming years, I want to continue growing in both the art of selling complex enterprise software in my Sales role and in building valuable product lines within my Incubation responsibilities. Now, as a Team Leader responsible for a small team, I also want to perfect my ability to grow and develop others, just as my direct manager, Dana Nastase, and other colleagues have done for me over the past five years.
